The First Transport Medical Evacuation Helicopter Operation in Jordan

Jordan Dubai Capital, Eastern Holding and the Royal Medical Services announce the launching of the Jordan Air Transport & Emergency Medical Evacuation Services Company

SOFEX Amman 31 March 2008- As part of a pioneer initiative, Jordan Dubai Capital, Eastern Holding and The Royal Medical Services signed an agreement for the establishment of "Jordan Air Transport & Emergency Medical Evacuation Services Company" (JAMS). The signing ceremony was held at SOFEX Monday and attended by H.R.H Prince Faisal Bin Al Hussein and H.R.H Prince Andrew, The Duke of York.

The agreement was signed by His Excellency Mr. Samir Z. Al-Rifa’i, CEO of Jordan Dubai Capital, Brigadier General Dr. Mohammed Al-Quran, Head of Field Medicine of the Royal Medical Services and Dr. Majid AlSadi, Chairman of Eastern Holding, the largest British investors in Jordan.

A private shareholding company with an initial capital of JD 10 million, JAMS is the first private Helicopter and Medical Evacuation Operation in Jordan and the region. New fully equipped helicopters will be used for the purpose of transport of passengers and tourists from Amman to any destination within the Kingdom and abroad as well as carrying out emergency medical evacuation operations.

JAMS will take Queen Alia Airport as a base for operation in an effort to facilitate its mobility to reach different touristic destinations such as Aqaba, the Dead Sea and Petra, with a potential to expand the operation into some neighbouring countries. The company will offer its services to a diverse group of clients such as tourists, corporate clients and high profile officials among others.  

On this occasion, His Excellency Mr. Samir Al-Rifa’i said, "We embarked on this project driven by JD Capital’s strategy that aims at diversifying its investments in different developmental projects, as well as our belief in unprecedented boom in the medical sector world wide". He added, "We value this cooperation which was announced at this special national event that brings people from all over the world to witness the long strides that Jordan has taken towards advancements and technological development. This project is without a doubt a step forward for both tourism and medical sectors."

In turn Dr. AlSadi added that this project comes in line with Eastern Holding’s current successful investments in Jordan in the Aviation sector such as ALPHA (Flight Catering Services) and JATS (Jordan Airline Training and Simulation). Dr. AlSadi added that he is certain that this project will reflect positively on Tourism in Jordan. He also said that this endeavour comes in-line with His Majesty King Abdullah II’s vision to position Jordan as a favourable investment and touristic destination.  

As for Major General Dr. Abdel-Latif Wriekat, The Head of the Royal Medical Services, "This Project is a successful manifestation of public-private partnership which is geared towards providing state-of-the-art medical services for the public using advanced technology of helicopters and air bourn medical equipment. We are delighted to be part of this endeavor as it will introduce world class medical evacuation services to Jordan; this private-public partnership will set precedent for future commercial cooperation between both sectors, and we hope that we will have the opportunity to participate in more projects that would serve Jordan and its people."
